Reflection 8: 👌 — 😄 Rule the 🌐

Emoji (or emoticons), a series of electronic graphic symbols, have existed since the late 1990s. However, it wasn't until they were integrated into Apple's IOS in the past few years that they became a cultural phenomenon. Today, emoji have integrated themselves into everyday electronic communication, typically via mobile phones and in social media. But have they become too prevalent? Do they typically enhance communication or hinder it? For example, what happens for those who may not understand or be aware of specific meanings of certain emojis? Do you use emoji, why or why not? Finally, what might the long term effects be on us for substituting so many words for symbols?
